My story
I am a North Vancouver artist, born and raised on Vancouver Island in Campbell River, BC. I've loved mountains and art since I was a young girl, and growing up on the wild west coast of BC was the perfect setting for both. I studied Fine Arts and Art History at the University of Victoria from 2004-2008, and I have continued exploring a broad range of art movements since. Over the years, I have developed a unique artistic style based on modern landscape impressionism, which continues to evolve with influences of mixed media, abstract art, illustration and most recently graphic design.
Since moving to Vancouver in 2009, I've participated in several juried exhibitions and commissioned public art projects throughout Vancouver, the North Shore, and Whistler. My work can also be seen at Cypress Mountain’s Cypress Creek Lodge, on the street banners throughout Deep Cove and Port Moody, BC, and decorating the walls of Pemberton Brewery.
In the summer, I mountain bike, rock climb, canoe, hike, and camp at every opportunity. In the winter, I head to the mountains to ski powder laps and find inspiration for my next painting.
My purpose
My paintings capture experiences that would be overlooked in a traditional landscape, and instead invite the viewer to be part of the experience - to feel the cold wind rushing by, the crunch of morning snow, and the scent of pine trees warming in the sun. My art brings together the moments that stay with you long after the ski boots have dried and toes warmed.
As I’m painting, I get lost in the landscape and memory of where I was when I saw that tree, or that mountain. It brings me back to the feeling I had at that moment, and my greatest wish is for you to share that experience too.
I hope my paintings inspire your adventure.
